Johnnie is an accomplished irrigator with a long history of success in the field as well as the office. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and as a highly decorated non-commissioned officer he began learning about attention to detail and being the best at a very early age. Using the military as a gateway to college, Johnnie pursued his fine arts degree at Craven and it was during this time that he got involved with irrigation as a side job to help make ends meet.
His first position was as an installation crewman in eastern North Carolina where he installed systems on clay tennis courts. He went on to become a foreman and when he was experienced enough became a service technician for a small irrigation company.
After relocating to the New York City area where he raised his daughters, Johnnie worked his way from senior service tech to assistant division manager and ultimately division manager for one of the largest landscape companies in the north eastern United States.
Moving to Florida when his oldest daughter went to college, Johnnie took a project
manager position with one of the oldest companies in north east Florida and again worked his way to division manager. After fulfilling his commitment to help make this company more profitable by streamlining the irrigation division, making them more efficient and boosting productivity with creative and innovative business solutions he moved on to a small “mom & pop” company to do the very same thing. Here he reduced overhead significantly while improving revenue by implementing the strategies, policies and internal systems that he had learned with some of the larger companies he had been with. He now had a large network of connections up and down the east coast; vendors, general contractors, laborers, managers and governing bodies.
It was at this time that Johnnie founded his own company, Taylor Irrigation Service in Jacksonville, Florida and in 2007 the editor of Country Club Magazine called Taylor Irrigation “Jacksonville’s best irrigation service.”
John Taylor has now brought Taylor Irrigation Service to the Houston market and is set on establishing it as the premier irrigation service in the greater Houston area. Johnnie is not only a licensed Texas irrigation designer and contractor, he is a certified water auditor (Texas A&M), an EPA Water Sense auditor and a State of Texas and City of Houston backflow inspector.
